Permission Problems (It Seems)

Featured Replies

So an odd thing happened the other day. A friend was playing around looking at the WebUI to see if he liked unraid for himself and he ran the New Permissions Tool "by accident". Now I am running into problems all over unraid. Plex won't play anything, SABnzbd has no permission to run python scripts, etc. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to restore the permissions for the entire server and its contents? I'm hesitant to just run a chmod 777 on everything for fear it might mess everything up more.

I appreciate the suggestions!

EDIT: Running unraid 6.3.3 x64

Are those docker applications?  If so, you may have some problems and would be best to ask in the specific support thread for those apps.

Docker Apps have their own unique permission / ownership requirements which your friend just trounced all over.  (As an FYI that's too late now, Fix Common Problems has a "docker-safe New Permissions Tool" for this very reason.)

First thing to try would be to stop and start the apps, and with luck they *may* rebuild their own permission requirements.  If that doesn't get you anywhere, the post the questions in the appropriate threads, and if that doesn't get you anywhere, then try the chmod 0777 as a last resort before having to delete the appdata and start all over again.

All this assumes of course that you do not have a backup of your appdata made via CA's Appdata Backup / Restore.  If you do, then its probably easiest to simply restore the backup.

Thanks Squid. They aren't Docker Apps, they were all installed using the PhaZe plugins. I don't have a backup, but am going to look in that Appdata thing you mentioned for future. I'm thinking at this point I have to start over. This of course is after i hit my friend over the head repeatedly ....

Try stopping the plugins and remove the '.PhAze-Common' folder and reboot. That will reinstall and hopefully trigger permissions update.
