May 2, 20179 yr Does Unraid give a recommendation on Motherboard, RAM, CPU, etc...? I am looking to get a 30 drive system. I was not sure if I should use an older computer or maybe to get something more modern. Does Unraid require a lot of memory and modern hardware? Thanks.

Best recommendation would be to look around at peoples signatures, many have their rigs listed. If you only want to run it as a NAS, then you don't need much at all. If you want to have multiple VM's with full hardware passthrough for head to head gaming on one tower, then you need a beast.

Ok, I will probably go low end on it. Probably only like 1 person accessing the information at a time. I would think that rebuilding the parity is the biggest strain and the hard drives are probably the ones doing most of the work. Is there a minimum that no matter what you do, can't go below a certain amount?
May 4, 20179 yr See the link provided in the other topic you have created for a minimum. https://lime-technology.com/hardware-requirements/ My first unraid server was an old computer I start using as a server. So it can be really cheap if you want. Especially if you only want to use it as a data backup with a limited # of hard drives. But for a 30 drive system it will never be cheap. You needed more expensive hardware for that.
