May 11, 20179 yr Hi, I am searching in the locals suppliers for a server build for unRaid (obviously ). I want to build a Spacial Database with PosgreSQL/PostGIS. What i have found so far are: vendor A micro Intel® Xeon® E3-1225 v3 MOBO Intel® Server Board S1200SPLR RAM 8GB DDR3L ECC UDIMM 1600 (2x4GB) vendor B micro Intel® Xeon® E3-1220 v5 MOBO Supermicro MBD-X11SSL-B Socket LGA 1151 RAM 8GB de Memoria DDR4 ECC 2133 The problem that i have it's that i don't know if these MOBO work with unRaid (or others linux) and the vendors only respond that it's compatible with Windows Server..... My questions are: Are this builds compatible with unRaid? Which one do you recommend? foot note: i am from argentina and we dont have much access to new tech... Edited May 11, 20179 yr by AguaraGuazu
May 11, 20179 yr I am currently using an almost identical setup as vendor A in one of my towers. Model: Custom M/B: Intel Corporation - S1200BTL CPU: Intel® Xeon® CPU E31220 @ 3.10GH HVM: Enabled IOMMU: Enabled Cache: 64 kB, 256 kB, 8192 kB Memory: 16 GB (max. installable capacity 32 GB) Network: eth0: 1000 Mb/s, full duplex, mtu 1500 eth1: not connected Kernel: Linux 4.9.19-unRAID x86_64 As a matter of record, I am typing this post in a VM hosted on the above referenced box. The newer one from vendor B should be faster and use less power, but either should work. I'd expect to pay more for the newer stuff.
