Need details about how unRAID grabs PCIe GPU for console

Featured Replies

Hello,

Inspired by the LTT video, I am planning to do a 3 Gamers 1 CPU build with my new Ryzen PC

I was wondering if i could use the top PCIe 1x slot to boot on the unRAID console because i only have 3 PCIe 16x on my motherboard.

I included a pic of the PCIe 1x slot i would want unRAID to boot on.

If you have any other tips that would be useful for my build i would be grateful.

Thanks in advance,

Kappawaii.

PC Specs :

AMD Ryzen 5 1600X

MSI X370 Gaming Pro Carbon

Corsair Vengeance8Go DDR3 OC 2667MHz

NVIDIA GTX 760 ( + AMD R9 Fury X and another GTX 760 coming up)

You can boot from one 16x and pass IT through as one of the gaming cards. unRAID web gui got steroidized. LOL (U can turn off the gaming PC from web gui if needed from any machine on net, and keep that pci-e for anything else needed like SAS controller.)

but does it work with my Asus NVIDIA GTX 760 because i've heard you can pass through a AMD card that was grabbed by unRAID to boot on it but you can't do it on NVIDIA.

Not sure.  I use a Radeon HD 6450.  I believe you can also use 7450/8450/8490 and R5 230/235/235X.
