April 7, 201016 yr I just completed my UnRaid build and was now thinking about moving the drives to a new Case and MB. Will this work? the data drives are attached to a controller that will move and the parity drive is connected to an onboard SATA port. I have nearly 4TB of data and the parity is built, will I have any issues moving everything to the new MB and case? I don't want to rebuild if possible. 30 plus hours to copy the data and rebuild parity.
April 7, 201016 yr Yes, it will work. I have done this many times and I'm always pleased with how seamlessly unRAID adapts to the new hardware. Follow the procedure prescribed here: What is the safe way to rearrange disk numbers, assignments, slots, etc? Step 1 is paramount. Step 2 would be where you physically migrate your hard drives, controller, etc. to the new motherboard and case. Step 5 is also paramount, make sure that you have the parity disk in the right slot, otherwise you may lose data.
