May 26, 20179 yr Hello, (can be moved if in wrong category) Im looking for some application to share Folder/Drive content with friends - FTP style like But unfortunately i cant use FTP as it needs mode PORTs open and im behind FW (with pasive) so not really possible Is there any other solution except FTP server where connected user/client can pick content to download? 1. Im aware about BTsync/Resilio but over there u can just share whole folder and user has to download whole content without option to chose what to download. 2. FTP might be possible via VPN with Active IP , but im using it already in Transmission VPN docker Any idea how to deal with this? thanks
May 26, 20179 yr Hi I use owncloud/nextcloud for sharing whole directories at the same time. Have a look at that

I don't think what the OP is requesting is possible without port forwarding, but I'd be glad to be proven wrong. The only solution I can think of is a VPS somewhere, running a VPN server for everyone involved to connect.
May 26, 20179 yr Author Dextros: I did install Nextcloud just as replacement for google drive, but havent use it much as there is no auto foldersync for pics (from mobile) But i can try it for sharing - can u share whole folder, without coping whole data inside "nextcloud" ? jonathanm: VPS like an VM with mapped drives? and access into it to multiple users? It might be possible that instead of Docker only for Transmission - ill install some win or linux machine with OpenVPN connection over there and install Transmission for torrent, FTP server perhaps something else. But i wanted to avoid this - didnt want to maintain other OS out of my Desktop one, but so far this is the only option i guess.
June 5, 20179 yr Sorry had a client have a major server breakdown and have been working relentlessly on that. I am fairly sure that I have no ports forwarded. I will confirm it tomorrow ish. I may have a DMZ set up though. My only problem is that when I get a link to share, I have to copy and paste my current external ip address and replace my internal ip address with it. I will confirm tomorrow. L Edit: I do have a port forwarded. Its for the plex docker - 443, but due to Plex being Host and Nexcloud being bridge, they both use it. So no, without forwarding ports I dont think it will work. Edited June 6, 20179 yr by Dextros
