Windows Server 2012 R2 VM Pausing

Featured Replies

So I have had unraid running for about 2 months now and my windows server VM has started to pause itself for no reason. I hit resume and picks back up fine but for some reason, it keeps pausing. Any suggestions?

The only reason I've seen VMs pause is when running out of space, in doubt post your diagnostics.

You are using two different size devices in the cache pool, available space is incorrectly reported, it's a btrfs limitation, your usable space is 239GB and like I suspected you're running out of space.

Ohhhh that makes so much more sense. Okay, so I will just remove that cache drive from my array and see how that goes.

Well, I bet that would have worked. But when I removed the cache it completely broke all of my VM,s, and dockers. Well, time to rebuild. Thanks for all the help Jonnie I will remember that in the future.

It would if you had any of them configured to use the cache drive, and did not change the configuration before removing the cache drive.

That's what happened It's no one's fault but mine, all part of the learning process.

See the FAQ, lots of procedures for dealing with the cache pool, remove device, replace device, etc:
