[Solved] Upgrade 6.1.3 to 6.3.5 Win7 Explorer Does Not Connect to Server

Featured Replies

I upgraded from 6.1.3 to 6.3.5.  Everything was working great until I rebooted my Win7 computer.  Now I am unable to connect to my unraid server using Win7 explorer.

I have made Unraid  the Local Master Browser.  I have tried \\Tower.  \\IP Address.  I get an error "Windows cannot access \\Tower. Error code: 0x80004005.  What has changed in unraid?  What do I need to do on my Win7 computer?

I would suggest that you google this error code   Error code: 0x80004005    as there are a number of topics that discuss it.  (Apparently, MS tends to use this error code for anything that it doesn't expect to see happen.)  You will need to look through them and decide which ones  might be a solution and try them.)

But first, I would power down this computer, unplug it for ten minutes, plug it back and restart it.  Sometimes, this drastic action will fix this type of problem as a reboot does not always clear and reset everything.

I got it to work.  I re-did my flash drive and it worked.  I am able to access my shares using 6.3.5.

The root of the problem was my "extra" directory packages.  When I copied my extra directory back to the flash and re-booted the server,  I was not able to access my shares from windows.  The packages I was installing were gcc, g++ and libraries for Slackware 14.1 (I compile new java periodically for my YAMJ scanner).  The current Slackware version is 14.2.  I installed gcc, g++, etc... from the Slackware 14.2 depository.  And everything is working.
