Parity not valid and one Disk failed but Disk is empty

Featured Replies

Hi folks,

i have a problem with my unraid and i need to know, what to do now.

A few days ago i found out that my parity was not valid (sync errors) so i started a correcting parity check yesterday.

But now, disk 10 looks like to completely fail. It has 105.768 Errors on it. Paritycheck is running with 360KB/sek since 1 day and 6 hours - very slow.

The good thing is, this Disk is completely empty because i removed everything from this disk a week ago.

My question is now, if i lose data when i stop the paritycheck and remove this disk because it seems that this paritycheck will run for ages with this 360KB/sek.

Any advice will be very welcome ^_^

You didn't post the diags so it's up to you to check SMART for remaining disks, if all look OK you can do a new config without disk10 and re-sync parity.

I dont want to completely remove the disk. I have a new 4TB disk here and i like to know, if i can stop the check, remove the old empty disk and implement the new 4TB WD-Red without losing data, because the parity is not valid at the moment.

And sorry, i forgot (again) the Diagnistics :)

Same thing, just add the 4tb disk when doing the new config, if parity is invalid no point in rebuilding the disk and then doing a parity check.

So its completely harmless for my data - good to know - thanks for your help :)
