License question

Featured Replies

One of my unraid servers has a pro key, it really doesn't need it and could suffice with a plus key. I have another server I'd like to buy an unRAID key for however I am wondering if I can use this pro key from the other server and replace it with a plus key? The other server running the pro key has a VM and an existing array, would changing the key from a Pro to a plus affect anything?

Do I just buy a plus key and swap the USB flash drives between the two computers?

Just remember the License is attached to your USB. So you can have multiple Licenses on Multiple Keys and swap them around all your need/want as long as the amount of drives fits what your swapping to. Basically its your USB's you can do what you want other than selling them here on Limetech. :D

To further clarify, the key needs to stay with the USB drive with its matching GUID. If you need another key, it needs a different USB drive GUID.

Other than the number of drives supported by each license type, it is really the other files on the USB drive that make it configured for one system or the other.

For your scenario, you would get a new USB drive for your existing system, and copy all files except the key from the old USB drive to the new one. Then you would run that system from the new drive and register the new USB with a plus license.

Then, you would take the old USB, save its pro key somewhere, prepare it as a new install for the new system, and copy and use the old pro key.

So:

New USB drive with new plus key and copy of all other files from old system.

Old USB drive with old pro key for new install on new system.
