[support] dlandon - ownCloud

Recommended Posts

Dear D. landon,

Kindly we would like to express our thanks for the wonderfull work. The software is playing a keyrole in our company. As we are growing we have currently developed the need to register our time for the Dutch government more professionally. I was wondering if you or someone else had suggestions how software similar to Time-writer (http://www.timewriter.com) could be incorporated into owncloud. Is there software availble, apart form the excel?

(I have found this time tracking software, but find a little difficult to understand how to incorporate it into ownCloud/unRAID: https://v2.kimai.org )

Check app Marketplace to see if there is an app to do what you want.  You will need an app built for ownCloud.  You can't add anything onto ownCloud that is not a built app.

Also I would like to ask what the easiest and correct way to update owncloud is to version to 10.0.8. Thank you in advance for your reply

The best way to update is through the builtin ownCloud updater.  It will not update though with a self signed certificate.  I use a proper certificate and it is worth it just to be able to use the builtin ownCloud updater.

Dear dlandon,

Kindly we like to thank you for your prompt reply. Before updating ownCloud it is recommended to back-up all data. I was wondering if the OwnBackup would be sufficient and how that all data  (saved documents) could be retrieved when the update fails.

Hello,

The ownCloud folders I have is now regularly backed-up with Duplicati following this guide: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PBxY5Fna-MU

However I was a little unsure how to make a back-up from the database... Does anyone have suggestions?

Thank you in advance.

Look in the Market for the "OwnBackup" app.  It backs up the databases on a schedule.

Problem

Thank you very much for your prompt reply. The back-ups went successful and the upgrade semi-successful...

I was presented with the following error:

Following the guidance of the admin manual: (https://doc.owncloud.org/server/10.0/admin_manual/issues/code_signing.html) I should 'Upload the correct “index.php” and “version.php” files from e.g. the archive of your ownCloud version' which in my case are the above 3 php files. However I had trouble finding the correct files that I could upload. I was wondering where I might find an archive of the 10.0.8 version of ownCloud or if there is another way to upload/restore these files; anyone suggestions?

A solution:

  1. Install dlandon's ownCloud again on a different server B.
  2. Zip the folder 'vendor' in appdata/owncloud/www/owncloud/updater in server B
  3. Safe and/or transfer the file localy
  4. Shut down owncloud on server A
  5. Open the 'updater' folder in appdata/owncloud/www/owncloud on server A
  6. Delete 'vendor' folder in server A
  7. Unzip the the 'vendor' file in the 'updater' folder
  8. Start owncloud
  9. Under settings do a rescan and the warning should be solved.

Hello everyone,

After updating I still received the following error: ownCloud,Server replied "403 Forbidden" to "MOVE https://blablabla.com/blabla

Resolving the above problem seemed a good start however I did not obtain the wanted result.

I tried to use the following guides however in case 1. I could not find the " installation-dir/.htaccess" folder under ownCloud and in case 2 I could not figure out if "repos" and "SELinux" were any relevant. The problem is fairly urgent so any suggestion is most welcome.

https://forum.owncloud.org/viewtopic.php?t=36802

A solution:
Disabling the anti-virus app.

As soon as possible I will try to enable the anti-virus app but with a lot more caution.

Hello,

Right..... I deleted by mistake an address book containing a list of contacts. I tried to recover the contacts by going to Settings >  Additional (under Admin) > OwnBackup where I then selected oc_dav_properties, oc_dav_shares, oc_cards, oc_cards_properties for a specific date. Then an error appeared (see below) with the issues that A. no contacts got back and second the list keeps on loading for minutes with no result. Has anyone suggestions how I could restore my contacts app and perhaps my contacts (I have a back-up in .cvf format)?

I have updated the docker image to install ownCloud 10.9.0 as the initial install.  I have also set up the mariadb 10.3 stable repository so  mariadb 10.3 it will be updated when the docker is started.

When I tried to update my ownCloud to 10.9.0 using the built in updater, it did not handle the add on apps properly and got stuck in the maintenance mode.  I ended up updating using the manual method in the second post of the thread.  If you use a self-signed certificate, the built in updater won't work and you have to use the manual method.  In any case, I recommend manually updating the docker in all cases.  It's easy to roll back if the update fails because you make a copy of ownCloud before updating.

After my Docker updated last night I am now seeing the following and the Docker won't start anymore, any ideas? Should I just blow the docker away and install fresh?:

Probably the best thing to d is re-install the docker.  I'll also take a look at why it is not updating.

Seeing the same behavior after removing the docker and reinstalling it. Should I delete the appdata/owncloud folder as well and let my files re-sync?

php 7.2 is fully supported in ownCloud 10.0.10.  Right now the Docker is using php 7.1.  Because of php 7.2 features, I may have to implement php 7.2 in the docker for later versions of ownCloud,  The issue with this is that ownCloud versions below 10.0.10 may not operate any longer with php 7.2.

You should be sure you have upgraded to 10.0.10 to be ready for the time when php 7.2 will be required.

I'm moving over from gfjardim's docker.  Is there a way to import the files I already have?  Currently they are stored at /mnt/cache/apps/owncloud, the new install is /mnt/cache/appdata/ownCloud.  I'd prefer to be able to copy the files then tell owncloud to scan and update the database?  Is this possible?

I see there is a files:scan command, but don't know how to run it in ownCloud.

thanks

david

OK I figured out how to do this:

open a docker console

cd /cofig/www/owncloud

in this directory you will see the file occ

the owner of the config/config.php is abc

sudo -u abc php occ files:scan <user to scan>

works well.

You can also add this to the ownCloud config.php file:

'filesystem_check_changes' => 1,

This will do the same thing with all users.

In your first post you say to change the timezone in base.php, but how do I do that?

I see:

                if (!\date_default_timezone_set('UTC')) {

Just don't know what to change?  UTC-4?

In your first post you say to change the timezone in base.php, but how do I do that?

I see:

                if (!\date_default_timezone_set('UTC')) {
                        \OC::$server->getLogger()->error('Could not set timezone
 to UTC');
                };

Just don't know what to change?  UTC-4?

thanks again,

david

That is not necessary.  ownCloud manages the time zone.

Anyone use the owncloud Android App?  this is the last thing I'm trying to get done.  The only message I get is it failed to connect.  I imagine there is some authentication thing I need to get setup but I don't get any message from the app.

I tried connecting from a web browser, externally and it said something about adding to a trusted domain?

thanks

david
