June 3, 20179 yr I'm new to unRAID and before I start moving my data around I have a couple questions. I currently have a PC with a 256GB SATA SSD and 3x USB 3.0 HDDs used for data storage, the largest of the HDDs is 3TB. I'd like to use unRAID to create an array with these USB drives for data storage and use the SATA SSD as a cache disk. I plan to get an additional 3TB USB HDD for use as a parity disk. Will this work? I know this isn't a recommended setup, but I'd like to use the hardware I already have and the PC doesn't have any spare SATA ports or PCIe. I understand the performance may not be the best, I just want to know if this is a workable arrangement. I've seen conflicting information on the forums regarding the use of USB drives in the array. Thanks!
