So I run unraid on my computer with 2 windows vms which I use to game on (two people game at the same time). 

I Get kernel panics all the time during play, but never during boot (I've read posts about that being a common problem). Some times I get kernel panic when just using chrome or watching a movie (using only one of the vms), so it's totally random. I initially though it happened because of ram handling in unraid, but I bought more ram and still have the issue. It gives a general hardware failure, but the system is stable in windows and memtest.
