Is a swap partition possible?

Does anyone know if it is possible to create and use swap partition on an unRAID machine and how one might go about it? I have moderate Linux experience and moderate unRAID experience and a crazy notion about experimenting with hybrid sleep. I have been reading on how it is accomplished on other systems, but I am having a hard time determining if there is a way to do a swap partition in an OS that unpacks and runs from RAM. I am already aware that a plugin exists for creating a swapfile, but that does not get where i am trying to go.
