unraid on two machines?

Featured Replies

I have been bidding on couple of old servers on ebay and I would acquire them in near future. I am a student who does huge simulations and a gamer. My idea was to buy 2/3 old servers and hook them up together. For simulation, I could do the cluster/worker node thing or MPI in general for simulation loads, but its waste of resources. Can I utilize resources of two hardwares in the unraid, so I can make just one powerful VM having 20/30 cores and 256GB RAM and some dope grafix cards??

No. Unraid only runs on one motherboard at a time, it can't cluster.

ok thanks, what could be the alternative to pool the resources? And maybe employing the unRaid at the same time? Any thoughts?

If you were looking at single CPU servers, don't go that route - buy big E5 chips and a dual CPU motherboard...
