Inconstant speeds from and to UNRAID server

Featured Replies

Hello everybody,

Since a few time, I have speed problems on my UNRAID server.

Before, the speed was very constant : about 110 mo /s during all the transfer with a gigabyte connection.

Now, as you can see on the screenshots attached, all transfers speed are very inconstant (read from my unraid server or even write to it). It's very slow to transfer large file.

Moreover, it has an impact using plex, videos stop regularly...

I don't know the reason to that inconstant speeds and I need some help.

What I changed since I noticed this problem :

- Add of a SSD as a cache drive (before I had no cache drive) - thinking to increase transfer speeds but it's not the case.

- Update versions on my unraid server. Now I have the version 6.3.5 (the last one).

I tried to remove the cache drive but I still have exactly the same problem.

Attached, I put also the diagnostics of my UNRAID server.

Do you have any ideas ?

Thanks a lot !!

Hello,

Thanks for your reply.

I tried to change all sata cables.

Nothing change but I don't have any error in the log anymore but always inconsistent speed.

I tried a lot of things, even to install a new GIGABITE PCI CARD. And since, speeds are stable BUT slower (about 75 mo/s but constant).

I notice also another weird thing. If I transfer files and the UNRAID GUI is opened, speeds become unstable again... If I close it, speed become stable again...

I have attached an example.

Do you have any ideas ?

More I test and more I tell me the only problem I have it's when the GUI is opened.

Another test attached.

I will try to do the same tests with my first GIGABITE CARD !

Do you know why speeds are inconstant when GUI is opened ?

Never seen this before, can you try after booting in safe mode to rule out any plugin?

I confirm, I tried with my first GIGABITE card and I am stable and the speed is about 110 mo /s.

When I open GUI, exactly same result = inconstant speeds. I don't understand :/

How can I reboot in safe mode ?

This is about the GUI boot mode, but principle is the same:

Thanks !

I modified the syslinux.cfg to select the Boot GUI mode,

I have rebooted, and do the same test.

I do the transfer without any other GUI mode opened in a browser, speed is constant, no problem.

I do the transfer with a GUI opened, and speed is inconstant... same problem.

I really don't understand what is happening...

You would need to make one of the safe modes to be the default for diagnosing purposes
