Yes, definitely. Last time was this morning.

Check on the MakeMKV forum to see if the crash is reported for your disc.  This topic looks interesting: https://forum.makemkv.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=17268.  Don't hesitate to add your input.

How can I make that renaming/overwriting persistent between container restarts.

The renaming should survive restarts.  You only need to re-do it after re-creation of the container (e.g. after update or after changing settings).

Anyone able to point me down a possible troubleshooting path here.

Trying to open this Blue-ray Disc in this docker in Unraid and it fails loading the disc.

But on my windows machine using the same version of mkmkv and the same usb drive it reads it fine.

image.thumb.png.663e5ecbd472e8a7cbd7ca7936f0dc9b.png

I can see the LibreDrive info in both windows (below pics) and linux/unraid docker (above) and both say the same info that its enabled.

But in the output in those screen shots the windows box has

MakeMKV v1.16.5 win(x64-release) started
Using LibreDrive mode (v06.2 id=866A98CB9C4E)
Using direct disc access mode

but in the unraid docker it doesnt seem to use LibreDrive mode

MakeMKV v1.16.5 linux(x64-release) started
Using direct disc access mode

I have been trying unsuccessfully to get the ripper to properly handle DVDs with CC, not subtitles.  I can successfully rip the CC if I pass the drive into a windows VM and run MakeKVM directly, but no matter what i do with the container, manual or automatic, CC is always missing from the ripped mkv.

Is this something that should work?  Or does the container only work with subtitles?

Are you using the GUI or the automatic disc ripper ?

Same result :/

You haven't added the /dev/sgx mine extra parms is this.

--device=/dev/sr0  --device=/dev/sg6

Run the sg_map command and look for sr0 and add the sgx, e.g. mine is mapped to sg6.

Hey guys,

I’ve been using this for quite a while now and totally love it. But occasionally I get reading errors or “no Disc” errors. Rebooting the server helps whereas rebooting the docker does not. Is there any way to fix that without rebooting the server? Maybe some CLI command to power cycle the drive or something like that? Would be awesome!

I have a huge issue with the docker atm...

It doesn't list the drives like before in the log and I can't use it with any drive/ any sata usb adapter.

I don't know why, maybe there's a issue with the 1.6.5 version. It did work without any problems before.

I did try the sg_map command, but it doesn't show me anything useful (to me).

Any idea what might be the problem? I'm not sure where to start looking, even a restart, other usb port, other drive brand etc didn't change anything...

Have you tried the x11vnc '-ncache' VNC client-side pixel caching feature yet?

The scheme stores pixel data offscreen on the VNC viewer side for faster
retrieval. It should work with any VNC viewer. Try it by running:

x11vnc -ncache 10 ...

One can also add -ncache_cr for smooth 'copyrect' window motion.

More info: http://www.karlrunge.com/x11vnc/faq.html#faq-client-caching

Edit: added log output

the issue is on your end!

sg_map returns the correct info:

/dev/sg7  /dev/sdg
/dev/sg8  /dev/sdh

i have --device /dev/sr0 --device /dev/sg1 in the extra parameters section.

Hmm... But how do I find the right settings? How do I find the DVD drive?

And any idea why no drive is found in the logs?

But thanks for your reply, maybe we'll find the problem together...

huh? i just told you.

ssh into unraid, at command prompt type sg_map, look for sr0 and the sgx next to it, that is what you put in the extra parameters section in the container

  • 1 month later...

Is there a way to get a JRE installed with the MakeMKV docker? This comes up because of Lionsgate blurays....

Ugly details are here:

But the main point is that Lionsgate obfuscates the correct playlist. When a JRE is present, MakeMKV can often figure out the correct playlist and flag it. I recently ran into this.

Right now, the workaround is to rip on a host where I do have a JRE and then transfer the files to my unraid Plex server. But it would be nice to not have to remember "oh, this is a Lionsgate disc...."
