Very Slow Transfer Speeds

Featured Replies

Hi,

Why am I having very slow (30-35mbps) transfer speeds? I have 4 gigabit ports on Balance-RR mode. I have setup Static Link Aggregation on my switch to the specific ports properly. But still I have slow transfer speeds. I have tried removing the LAGG setup on my switch, with the same results. What seems to be the problem here?

From the logs it looks like your switch configuration for the link aggregation was disabled or is mis-configured and STP is not enabled or not implemented by the switch correctly.  Noted by the repeating 'kernel: br0: received packet on bond0 with own address as source address' in the syslog.  Remove three of the four cables from your server/switch or correct the link aggregation configuration on the switch.

Your cache array consists of five disks, but only three are there.  One of the three, the Seagate ST31000333AS_5TE0DLW9, has some issues with 5 reallocated sectors, 155 high fly writes, and has 62,284 hours on it (7+ years).  To me, that adds up to borrowed time and justification to retire it.  All three cache drives are SATA2 consisting of two Samsung Spinpoint (HD103SJ) and the Seagate.  Drive temps have been above 50C in their life.  Have transfer speeds been faster in the past with this configuration?

@uneventhey thanks for the reply! I tried reconfiguring the switch right now and tested it with windows 7 (they have the test switch feature on intel nics). I dont know how to test them on unraid.

Yes, I meant to fix that. But the files im copying is on the array. I disabled cache on the shared folder. The drives are sata2, I'll be changing them soon to 2x512 ssd. I used to have 80-100+ transfer speeds on my old setup. I recently changed my setup.

I hve attached an updated diagnostics.

There is a gap in the syslog from June 28, 0926 to 1250.  After 1250 there are no more messages pertaining to the switch configuration problem, but there were only three minutes of log after that point.  Will need to check again to verify the 'kernel: br0: received packet on bond0 with own address as source address' messages do not show up in the syslog.  What was the previous setup that gave you the higher transfer speeds?

It was an AMD setup with an A10 5800K processor. It has a realtek builtin LAN but I was using the same intel ports with the same setup in my switch.
