Passmark Test for Unraid

Featured Replies

Hi folks,

i try to find out, how fast my CPU really is and therefor i want to know if there is a tool like Passmark for unRAID.

Can someone give me a hint, how to test the CPU?

Thanks

There is a website that gives the PassMark scores for virtually every processor out there. I think there is a tool you can download to benchmark your processor and submit to be incorporated into the scoring matrix.

Generally doing your own is not that useful unless you are overclocking or something and want to know the impact.

You can download a trial version of their software if you follow the links in their menus.  I haven't tried and it appears to be Windows only, though...

Yep i know - its Windows only - thats why i started this Thread ^_^

Well you can spool up a VM...

What is your goal?  If you just want stress test your CPU then try Prime95.

No, the goal is to find out, how many passmark points the CPU can generate because is use 1333 RAM and i want to see the difference between 1600 and 1333.

The impact shouldnt be large but i want to see how much it is.

Ah, gotcha.  That's actually pretty difficult.  Published Passmark scores are averages.  If you drill into a particular CPU and scroll all the way to the bottom you'll see the last 5 submissions, and they can vary quite a lot.  So if you could easily run Passmark on your system and come up with a number you'd be comparing it to a synthetic average (submitted by people with all sorts of configurations).  Unless you have both 1333 and 1600 memory and can run the test with both configurations...  If you do have both sets of memory I think Prime95 might work with a change to the configuration:

By selecting Custom, the user can gain further control of the configuration. For example, by selecting 8-8 kB as the FFT size, the program stresses primarily the CPU. By selecting 2048-4096 kB and unchecking the "Run FFTs in-place" checkbox, providing the maximum amount of RAM free in the system, the program tests the memory and the chipset. If the amount of memory to use option is set too high, then the system will start using the paging file and the test will not stress the memory.

What shall prime95 do? This software dosnt give back a comparable number, so...

I need a software like passmark to "measure" the CPU-Speed - i need a comparable "value" - prime95 doesnt give me one.

How I test my CPU is using performance test 9 t( pass mark )the 30-day trial one. After 30 days it still works for CPU tests.

Disable docker so nothing else really running on server. Have fresh windows VM with nothing else installed. Assign all CPUs to VM. Run CPU passmark test.

I have done this a few times on my system to compare what the passmark is on my system using first bare metal then on VM

It's been a while since I used it, but Prime95 supports Benchmarking.  Take a look and see if you can use it.  Again, this will only work for you if you have both sets of memory.  You'd setup the hardware, run a benchmark, change the hardware, rerun the benchmark, etc.
