Pass through GPU to Docker

Featured Replies

What are the chances of getting support of passing a GPU through to dockers?

My intended use would be for plex to use my GPU for transcoding.

It's already supported if you have an igpu. You just have to modprobe the modules in your go file. Info on how to do it is in the forum. I'm too lazy to search for you ;-)

For other GPUs I doubt they will be available any time soon. Might happen if the modules are small enough.

I read the thread for passing an igpu through to plex. But no I don't have an igpu.

I do have an ATI HD 7970. Being able to offload some of the work from the CPU would be very helpful in my sadly not so up to date system.

Then you are out of luck. Only option is to try to get the drivers installed yourself and hope plex supports your card. I think they only supports the igpu for now.

As far is plex support. I read in the gpu transcoding thread on the plex forum that a user reported to have it working with a R9 280 which is basically the same card. They don't mention what platform they were on though.

As far is getting the drivers installed myself. Does that mean I would have to compile the kernel?

Not only compiling the kernel, but also extracting and packing bzroot again.

Well then you called it. I'm out of luck as I don't have a clue about anything like that. Thanks for replying to this thread.
