July 6, 20178 yr A few days ago I tried to watch a show on plex, which suddenly came to a stuttery halt. To cut things short: Somehow my Plex container was locking up the whole system leaving merely a few kb/s of array read/write speed to my entire system. Things went south and after a few desperate hours trying to nicely reboot my server, I power cycled it (with disk 3 still mounted, as it was in use by plex). After a reboot the system locked up almost immediately again, leading to another power cycle. I presume, the issues arose when my cache went almost 100% full, because of unattended downloading. This naturally caused all kinds of issues, mainly my parity went out of sync on 3700+ sectors. Smart data is fine, on the array, though... I fixed the lock ups afterwards and have rebuilt my docker.img in the meantime. My containers seem happy again. I ran a full parity check yesterday, which yielded the devastating (but expected) error count of 3711. Before my parity was always fine, but I am now running a sync to get the array in a normal state again.. here is my issue: Currently the sync is in progress, with about 9 hrs left (last time I checked). While restarting a docker container, the webui hung up and has been unresponsive for over an hour. To check if docker was again the culprit, I stopped all running docker containers via ssh. Its been 20 minutes and the webui is still not answering. My questions are: Is there any chance I can regain access to the webui? If not, how do I manually and this time safely (assuming no entire system lock-up) shut down the server, once the parity sync has completed?! PS: My array is reachable at normal speeds, and so where all docker containers,.. i just stopped them to prevent further harm this time around. Find attached the current syslog (I copied from /var to my flash share), and the parity-checks.log, including the last error finding one.. parity-checks.log syslog.log
July 6, 20178 yr Author I kid you not. Webui just came back up. This may be closed However, could anyone make a plugin that securely, and easily shuts down the server?!
