July 7, 20178 yr New Unraid user here. A couple of issues with shares and permissions. Version 6.3.5 I noticed my flash drive is available as an SMB share. Also, anyone can connect and make changes to the flash folder. This seems dangerous. How can I hide the flash drive as being a viewable share? I joined Unraid to my local Active Directory Domain. I am not able to remove everyone group, though I can remove all permissions. Additionally, Unraid does not seem to understand AD Security R+W permissions. When setting R+W it sets the share to full control, which is not really what we want here. This would be a show stopper for using Unraid joined to a domain in a business. When Unraid is joined to a domain do the permissions set in the Webgui have any relevance at all? When it's not in a domain I assume the permissions work as follows. Public - open to anyone and no authentication required. Secure - Should prompt for a login. Private - cannot be seen but should also prompt for login. Any advice and feedback are appreciated. You're basically going to be on your own for any AD questions. Very, very few users here utilize AD, and the ones that do have had to do tons of messing around to get it to work. Probably best to email [email protected] for help.
July 7, 20178 yr Or google about what you are trying to do on the WWW because I would suspect that all SMB servers that can join AD would have the same issues. I don't think unRAID is doing anything unusual in the SMB setup. It may require a few entries on the 'SMB Extras' tab... 'Settings' >>> 'SMB' >>> 'Samba Extras'
July 11, 20178 yr Author Boot device security settings fixed the flash issue thanks. As to permissions yes I have been researching this. Quite complicated and I will need to educate myself on SAMBA conf file settings.
