Cache Format Change

Featured Replies

I've only ever used one drive for cache, and didn't realize when I set it up that btrfs was required for creating a cahce pool.  At the time my only experience with cache drives was with Ver 5 and I wasn't even familiar with the ability to do pooling.

Is the only way to do this

- copy everything off the cache

- reformat and set up the pool

- copy it all back

any tricks or dangers?

Do Dockers create any hidden folders that may not go with a copy command?  I only use the cache drive for docker app data.

Dockers are:  Plex, Krusader, binhex-minidlna

Thanks.

Use the replace cache procedure:

  • Click on Shares and change to "Yes" all cache shares with "Use cache disk:" set to "Only" or "Prefer"
  • Click on Shares and change to "Prefer" all shares that you want moved back to cache

TY, I hadn't seen this write up.

For the move out and move back, do I need to manually create the folders on an alternate drive in the array?  Currently my cache shares are only on the cache drive so they folders don't exist anywhere else. Will it automatically create the folders on the cache drive when i change the setting to "Only" and move them back?  Or do i need to use "prefer"?

Again, thanks!!

No, you just need to do what's in the FAQ entry.

Sorry one more, will disabling Dockers loose any of the current settings when I go re-enable?

No

I set up the cache pool tonight, followed the instructions completely.  The only variation is VM's because I don't run any, otherwise I followed every step.

after it was complete and moved, this is the message I got.  I enabled dockers but the message didnt go away so I haven't started anything.   What do I need to do?

Thanks!  All back up and running.

Side note:   Ever since I did the last unRAID update, I've noticed when I upgrade dockers, the window that opens and normally shows the progress of the update, stays totally blank white.  Eventually I jsut have to manually close it wtih the button at the top right corner (no X there, just a square) and the update has run in the background.  It just never showed on the page.

Well the reinstall acted in a similar fashion.  In this case for 2 out of the 3 dockers the page never changed.  Eventually i just refreshed and it was done.  I never saw the install progress page appear.  On the 3rd docker, the install progress page showed up once complete.

Is this a known issue?  I'll try and get a snip-it the next time an update comes around and put it in the general support page if that helps.

Thanks again for your help!
