Fan speed of ICY DOCK 4-3

Featured Replies

I have cooler master  4-in-3 cages and have the fans wired to the motherboard fan controllers.

When I type "/usr/bin/sensors" I'm able to see the fan speeds.

fan1:       1928 RPM  (min =   10 RPM)
fan2:       1194 RPM  (min =   10 RPM)
fan3:       1222 RPM  (min =   10 RPM)
fan5:          0 RPM  (min =    0 RPM)

I want to replace them with some ICY DOCK MB454SPF-B cages. Is there a way to connect the IcyDock to the MB and obtain the fan speed?

Many Thanks

I don't know about the ICY Docks as I do not have them.

I do know that the Supermicro 5in3's have an "easily" removable and easily replaceable fan.

I replaced the Sanyo Denki's with Gield 4 pin PWM fans. These can reach the motherboard.

A jumper has to be set in the Supermicro's so the fan alarm is not triggered, but other then that it was pretty easy.

It looks like the fan that comes with the IcyDock is a 80x80mm fan. When removed, the wires are sodered to the pins on the fan box on the back. I hate when companies make non-standard parts. IcyDock thinks that people will order a fan part from them for the plug-n-play factor.

I guess I could disable the fan alarm and use a regular 80x80mm fan and wire it to the MB.
