array will not start with my 6tb hgst enterprise drives

Featured Replies

I build unraid server with two 6tb hgst drives and ssd 480gb for caching and it will not start array.

I have tried mutiple computers and flash drives. It will not start array. so i tried same flash drive on another system and with WD drives no issues instant start up of array.

Is there something wrong with the size of the drive or the brand or model?

Please post up Diagnostics. Helps a lot. ;-)

Are the disks 4kn? If so they are not yet supported by unRAID, if you're not sure post the diagnostics.

There is a 512e variant of the same model, see if it's possible to exchange them.

The Ultrastar works with unRAID, maybe try a different controller, it may not support >2TB disks.

  • Author

okay i check into that do you have controller you can recommend.

  • Community Expert

Intel AHCI Onboard or any LSI 2008 based controller, e.g., 9201-8i, 9211-8i and clones.

okay thanks. Do you know if 4kn will be supported soon? I have these drives and now just going have to use freenas or windows.

I really wanted to test out unRaid and just a huge bummer.
