how do I use emulated soundcards/ use VNC with pass through video

Featured Replies

Hi there,

I am trying out unraid after a switch from proxmox due to not being able to get my 1050TI to not throw a code 43 on me. Though if anyone knows how to get around that I would love it as Proxmox was very polished looking. I was even able to dump the bios in proxmox but the damn driver wouldnt work.. Thankfully I was able to get it to not throw a code 43 in unraid and it was quite easy to set up.

However, I have had a few instances where my VM was inexplicitly turned off with no events logged thus far that I can see (any ideas on that?) and I am wondering if there is any way to pass through an emulated sound card (e.g. AC97 or soundblaster, etc.) as I also want to build another VM and passing through my only sound card is problematic since I need sound out of both VM's.

Lastly, I was wondering if there was any way to have NoVNC access with the GPU passthrough. I know that when I got rid of x-vga=on from my proxmox conf I was able to see the GPU in device manager as well as still having NoVNC working there. Albeit I couldn't get around the code 43 problem though. The reason I want to have vnc access as well as passthrough is for remotely fixing issues that may arise (e.g. windows stuck in a bootloop) since this machine sits headless in my garage and only exists for serving up games to remote targets in my house. Going to the hot garage is quite annoying for resolving any issues.

No, but you can set up remote management tools inside the OS. There are many options, RDP, VNC server, teamviewer, splashtop, nomachine, and others.

I understand that and I currently have RDP splashtop and teamviewer set up for that. My goal is to get as much remote control over the machine as possible. So much so that if I could throw iLO or an iDRAC in this box I would if I knew of any other alternative for machines that were built from scratch lol

Managed to figure this out. It was janky as fuck with my 7600GS for my XP vm but it is working great!
