I'm done with frustrating mini issues and just want to be able to use my machine if you upgraded from 6.3.5 then just copy contents from your flash drive folder "previous" to the root of the flash and reboot.
July 15, 20178 yr Author If I am doing that from the unRAID webUI Midnight commander is that from /boot/previous to /boot/ or somewhere else?
July 15, 20178 yr Author Well I got my sons Mac and copied the files onto the root of the flash with that.. rebooted and now I have 6.3.5 and have lost all my config all my dockers and VMs settings and my array. I'm royal ***ked now. I guess I learned the lesson not to test beta s/w with live data.. 40Tb of it
July 15, 20178 yr Your data should all still be there. You need to be completely sure which drive(s) are parity. If you are and you can't otherwise recover your config, you can go back in and start reassigning things. Just don't put a data drive in a parity slot.
July 15, 20178 yr Although I generally agree with the sentiment about discretion in adoption of beta versions, I do not believe that your issue is related to the beta. We have not heard of others encountering issues as you are describing with upgrading. It is more likely that installing a beta might result in unexpected errors in the syslog, performance-related issues, or even random hangs or crashes. If you are using unRAID-specific plugins or Dockers, you might find certain features not working. Or oddities in the GUI. If there are new features in the beta, that you try to utilize, you might find that they don't work or work as planned. But to have something basic like Dockers being gone, it is not typical. And if it happens, it should be found very early in the beta release. Given the 6.4 is on RC6, and RC6 has been out for some time, I'd say it is mature. Can you mention your method of update? Also suggest posting a diagnostics file before downgrading. Could be that your USB has corruption and needs to be run through chkdsk on a workstation.
July 15, 20178 yr I've downgraded more than once from v6.4 to v6.3.5 and config is retained, you had some other issue.
