Telnet Connection Refused

I've not had problems connecting to my server via telnet before.  What could be the reasons that the server would refuse a telnet connection?  I didn't see any errors displayed in the log.

    Did you disable ftp and telnet?  (I know that the 'Tips and Tweaks' plugin can do this.)   Many of us are using ssh these days as it is more secure.

    Yep, I installed the Tips and Tweaks, haven't found the setting for turning off telnet, but switched to SSH and all's good...
