VERY Long Format - Potential Issue?

Featured Replies

Hi there,

I am just setting up unRAID for the first time using the trial key and I've run into what seems like a potential issue? I have a 2TB drive that was from another, different NAS that my father has and while it's not in the best of health (SMART passes, but see screenshot attached) I figured if unRAID didn't like it, it would just error at some point. It's been "formatting" now for over an hour and my 4TB took minutes. Is something potentially really wrong with the drive that it's unusable?

Should I just leave it to continue the rest of the night/overnight or does this need to be replaced to finish setup?

Can setup continue with it in there while I source a replacement?

Not recommended, disk looks like it's in really bad shape.

OK, I removed it, let's see how long it takes now.

Guess I picked the wrong one out of my fathers old NAS, we'll see if he takes exchanges ;p

Thanks!
