DNS issue just for unraid server

Featured Replies

This is weird. I do an "nslookup sun" and comes back

C:\Users\mdelig00>nslookup sun
Server:  RT-AC5300-49D0
Address:  192.168.1.1

Name:    sun
Address:  192.168.1.120

Correct IP address. That's my unraid server. If I "ping sun" all time outs. If I "\\sun" I see none of my shares. But if I "\\192.168.1.120" my shares will come up! What the heck? Checked HOSTS file, and the others in there. They look fine. I completely removed my Ethernet cards drivers and let Windows reinstall them. Computer is configured DHCP all the way. I tried turning the Windows firewall off and that had no affect either. Stumped again! :)

i'm having the same issue if someone got an idea :D thx

Most unRAID users have their server become and remain the Local Master.  IF you are having problems with your server becoming the local master, here is a way to force it to being 'elected'.
