I am new to UnRAID, I realize this has probably already been answered and sorry if I am posting in the wrong place. I have lots of external USB hard drives lying around, can I build an UnRAID array using all of those drives?

    unRAID is supposed to support USB in the array, but I don't know anybody that is doing it, and performance for any parallel operations, such as parity checks, rebuilds, etc, would probably suffer.

     

    The usual method would be to shuck those drives and use them internally, assuming they are reliable. unRAID drives must be very reliable.
