HP Microserver G8 Graphics Passthough advice

Featured Replies

Hi All

I've just bought a HP Microserver Gen 8, I know it’s not a perfect box but at just under 98 Pounds it’s quite a lot of hardware for the money. I've just upgraded the CPU to a E3-1240 V2 and will be adding memory to allow me to tests a few VM's.

I know adding a graphics cards kills Remote Console (unless someone else has been able to get it working) but I've added a Nvidia GTForce GT 610 card I had lying around doing nothing.

System boots however whenever I try to setup a windoze 10 VM (I440fx-2.7 and OVMF bios) I get the following errors:

internal error: process exited while connecting to monitor: 2017-08-12T09:19:55.601073Z qemu-system-x86_64: -device vfio-pci,host=07:00.0,id=hostdev0,bus=pci.0,addr=0x5: vfio: failed to set iommu for container: Operation not permitted

I have tried the Enable PCIe ACS Override but without success. I am aware of the bios bug, is there any way of getting passthough to work or a graphics card that will work with my G8.
