August 16, 20178 yr I had successfully setup my first vm using Win7, which was just about done with its final round of downloading all the big windows updates, and the vm wanted a reboot. It now fails on launch complaining that it "didn't find usb device 4b4:8613". The VM logs only show failed startups, and the Unraid log is just filling up with errors involving the preclear plugin, which i havent even used n the past few days. How do i track down the missing usb device? I hadn't gotten around to passing anything through yet, although that is the goal. There was one tv tuner device plugged in at the time, although I do not believe the drivers had installed correctly. Also, when installing the Virt drivers, I was unable to simply righ-click/install the inf files. I had to go to each missing device in device mgr and install them one by one. I had a missing device that may have gotten assigned the tv tuner driver. How can I remove these without killing the entire VM and starting over?
August 16, 20178 yr Author I was able to find a pattern of unplugging/replugging the tv tuner device and restarting the VM that allowed it to run, so i went into device manager and uninstalled it and deleted the driver files (which i had uploaded myself). Immediate issue fixed, but the tuner is central to my need for a vm so I will need to start digging for reasons it doesn't work. It wasn't working properly before the VM began refusing to start, but I had just begun to work with it.
August 17, 20178 yr Author That's what i did at first, and the tuner (dish vip211 with r5000) was being reported in the plugin as a Cypress Semiconductor, and windows would install a generic driver. Since I posted, somewhere along the way something changed and the plugin reported it as an Anchor Chips Python2 WDM Encoder, and windows installed the correct driver. Neither of those names mean anything to me though. Next problem is that the r5000 software doesnt want to activate with my 10 yr old license key, which worked fine on another computer. Hmmmmmmm
