SMART: TLC writes 32mib - what does this mean?

Featured Replies

Hi folks,

can someone explain the above term?

This value is at 1046176 - but what? Tomatos? xD

How can i convert this to MB or GB or how can i find out, how many GBs my SSD has already written?

Thanks for your Help

Edited by Zonediver

Take the value and multiply it by 32, that will give you how many mibs it has written. Divide it by 1024 to get how many gibs it has written.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mebibyte

The mebibyte is a multiple of the unit byte for digital information.[1] The binary prefix mebi means 220, therefore one mebibyte is equal to 1048576bytes = 1024 kibibytes. The unit symbol for the mebibyte is MiB. Technically a megabyte (MB) is a power of ten, while a mebibyte (MiB) is a power of two, appropriate for binary machines.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gibibit

The gibibit is a multiple of the bit, a unit of information, prefixed by the standards-based multiplier gibi (symbol Gi), a binary prefix meaning 230.[1][2] The unit symbol of the gibibit is Gibit.

Thanks BRiT for your hint. I know all this - only the term "32mib" was confusing me - so i have to "multiply" it - i see :)

The "meaning" of "write 32mib" was not really clear.

In my case, the SSD TLC has written 33,477GB or 33,5TB - far away from the limit of 280TB - all clear now - thanks.
