Video Editing with UNRAID VM?

Featured Replies

I'm thinking this question is probably packed with many sub-questions / case scenarios.  But the overall thought was whether or not I would be able to double my UNRAID server as a general video editing machine as well.  Being that the software would be for Windows, my thoughts are my possible options would be the following:

  1. Utilize GPU pass through with Windows VM.  My only concern here is that at a quick look through the forums, there seems to be a lot of quirks and heartaches associated with the getting the pass through working.
  2. Add a secondary SSD for a Windows install.  I would simply remove the USB when I want to use it.

2. admittedly sounds like the easiest approach if it could truly work that way (I don't see why not as long as the Windows install doesn't touch the UNRAID drives).

Thoughts or suggestions?
