I was looking at an eSATA 4x 3.5" HDD Bay system to fix my future storage needs.

anyone had experience with eSATA does it work well with unraid or highly unstable ?

I have an EVGA Z87 FTW Motherboard with two eSATA ports on it.

    eSata isn't a problem.  The problem lies with Port Multiplication, and may manifest itself due to the fact that you're going to wind up using it by connect 4 drives to a single port.

     

    Beyond that, If the drives are going to be part of the array, then your parity check / rebuild speed may suffer as you're trying to push all that data through a single line.
