bcbgboy13
Will have to add this update as unfortunately only the 341-5793 (the one for DELL Precision T3400/T3500?T5400) may be usable by a standard motherboards, the other two are using proprietary mounting. So you will have to buy only this part below(still C$79.99 compared to US$199 on dell.com) http://accessories.dell.com/sna/products/controllers/productdetail.aspx?c=ca&l=en&s=dhs&cs=cadhs1&sku=341-5793 And these cards use different cables - you will need SFF-8484 (host) to 4 SATA cable. Dealextreme appears to have a very nuce one for $11.90 (shipped) -with locking SATA connectors - SKU is 1940 (http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.1940) Cheaper versions (at $7) are availble from EBay. And I am still not sure if these can be used for our purpose. Link to comment

I find this item very interesting, but not sure if it would work with my H57 Gigabyte board in JBOD configuration... Any news would be welcome! Link to comment
bcbgboy13
I've just updated mine system this past weekend to Biostar TA790GXE 128M plus 4GB ECC memory. The primary PCIe x 16 slot is populated with AOC-SASLP-MV8 (only 3 hard drives on the first channel with total of 9 hard drives) The Dell controller is in the secondary PCIe x16 slot. So far everything is going OK and I do not see any glaring errors or complains from unRAID in the syslog. Very fast parity check too. However I am unable to get into the Dell setup by pressing Ctrl-C. I do see the firmware revision, message that I will get into the menu after initialization but nothing happens after that and I go straight into unRaid (and I do not know if this is because I do not have any HD attached as I do not have any cable - two have been just ordered but probably at least two weeks until I receive them from China or simply this configuration wont work for many possible reasons....) I will update this post once I get the cables. Link to comment
DocBlock
I was going to pick one of these up to play with, but I can't seem to figure out how to get Dell Canada to ship to a US address. Link to comment
