User shares: stop disk spanning

Featured Replies

Hello all.

I have a 4 drive array (incl. parity), I want to reduce this to just 2 data disks and at the same time clean-up some user shares so that they no longer span a number of disks. What is the best way to achieve this? I realise I can set the included disks in the web UI, but I presume that will not then move data back on to only the required disks? - kind of re-integration of data.... that's what I need.

Regarding shrinking the array, what is the current best practice for doing this.

Thanks!

if you have the SATA ports, add the two larger replacement disks, and copy/ merge the data by hand?

I know of no program that will o it, maybe someone else does?

I keep on a client backup drive library files of each /mnt/disk1 /mnt/disk2... catalog with voidtools.com everything.exe search catalog file to disc for this

info if I lose a drive I know what was on it but none of that helps w/o a BACKUP!

Look at the unBalance plugin.  Shrinking the array requires a New Config.

Great plugin. Thanks, it worked exactly how I wanted it to.
