johnieutah
Hello all. I have a 4 drive array (incl. parity), I want to reduce this to just 2 data disks and at the same time clean-up some user shares so that they no longer span a number of disks. What is the best way to achieve this? I realise I can set the included disks in the web UI, but I presume that will not then move data back on to only the required disks? - kind of re-integration of data.... that's what I need. Regarding shrinking the array, what is the current best practice for doing this. Thanks! Quote Link to comment
TinkerToyTech
if you have the SATA ports, add the two larger replacement disks, and copy/ merge the data by hand? I know of no program that will o it, maybe someone else does? I keep on a client backup drive library files of each /mnt/disk1 /mnt/disk2... catalog with voidtools.com everything.exe search catalog file to disc for this info if I lose a drive I know what was on it but none of that helps w/o a BACKUP! @TinkerToyTech Quote Link to comment
tdallen
Look at the unBalance plugin. Shrinking the array requires a New Config. Quote Link to comment
