I currently have a asus z77 sabertooth with an i5. running 16 sata disks (8 on mobo, 8 on m1015). have a VM with win10 (mainly for itunes). purpose is media storage (streaming to 3 ATVs). also have it connected via DVI to an iMac.

 

I'm considering to upgrade the mobo to have msata (to have an on-board ssd). also thinking that a xeon may be more energy efficient? i'd like it to be somewhat nice looking (e.g., cooling armor).

 

any advice?

    I think you mean M.2 - mSATA is dead end technology now.
