wgstarks Posted September 4, 2017 Share Posted September 4, 2017 My disk1 (ST8000DM004-2CX188_WCT02WAD (sdh)) was disabled sometime during the night. Stopped the array this morning when I saw the error, but can't get it to show up. Tried installing it in several different drive bays. What's next? wgstarks Posted September 4, 2017 Author Share Posted September 4, 2017 Finally got the disk to reappear (had to remove preclear plugin), won't mount though. Looks like some FS corruption maybe? There is some discussion of the preclear/UD problem here. Couldn't get a SMART report. Maybe because the disk won't mount? There's probably more Seagate drives out there, because they're generally a few dollars/pounds cheaper than the WD/HGST equivalent. So, yes, there's going to be more apparent problems with them. I run 50/50 Seagate/WD, and over the past few years I've had to RMA one Seagate and 4 WD. The WD RMA process was shockingly bad (they replaced a 5TB Red with a 4TB Blue, took 3 months and eventually swapped for a 5TB Purple). Edited September 5, 2017 by HellDiverUK Quote Link to comment
