6.4.0-rc8q no longer boots macOS Sierra

Featured Replies

I have been running 6.4.0-rc successfully up to 6.4.0-rc7a and have upgraded my hackintosh VM to use the features available in qemu 2.9.0

6.4.0-rc8q comes with qemu 2.10 which was release just last week.

Unfortunately, my hackintosh VM no longer boots successfully.

This might be a problem introduced by qemu 2.10. Could the qemu release in 6.4.0rc be reverted back to 2.9?

I have not been able to revert to 6.4.0-rc7a. Now I have to revert to 6.3.5 and can no longer test out the 6.4 pre-release.

Did you change manually to 2.10 in the VM template or didn't touch it?

Tried both. And tried removing FakeSmc kext and switched back to use apple smc device inside qemu.

I meant tried leaving 2.9 in vm template and changed to 2.10.

I'm having the same issue with Sierra not booting in Unraid 6.4.0-rc8q

Are you suggesting we should not revert to previous qemu release?

Do not revert! I'm testning the latest OVMF firmware and right now both my OSX and Windows VM boots fine.

Care to share more details?

Same problem here.

Using the OVMF firmware built from tiancore github master fixed my problem. According to qemu contributors, It is a known problem that has been fixed in OVMF back in march.

So qemu 2.10 works fine as long as the OVMF firmware is up to date.
