Web console not working, 6.2.4 [resolved]

Featured Replies

My web console stopped responding.  Additionally, I was copying many files from the server from two different windows computers, and both those froze.  I tried to perform "powerdown" both at the console and by using PUTTY/telnet.  I tried killing emhttp, which I learned was for a different version of unraid.  None of that worked, so I had to hard reboot the server.  I can no longer see the web gui for unraid.  I've tried multiple windows computers (win7, win10), firefox and internet explorer.  None of them work.  I get "unable to connect" errors.  I use http://IPAddress to connect.

I ran "diagnostics" on the console, which is attached.  The server is working, as I can access data and have restarting copying data.  But I find unraid difficult to use without the web interface.

I appreciate any help.

If you boot into "safe" mode, does everything work?

May or may not be the problem, but ditch unMenu (modify the config/go file and delete the line referencing unMenu)  Additionally, if anything is in the extra folder on the flash drive you should delete it.

Thank you, Squid.  Sorry for my delay in responding -- had people over and then work got in the way.

To help searching later, the extra folder is flash\unRAID5\extra.  I have infozip-i486-1-txz in there.  I cut this and pasted in a temp folder elsewhere (just in case I needed it).

I found the go file under flash\unRAID5\go and I used Notepad to open the go file.  I had the following line:

/boot/unmenu/uu

cd /boot/packages && find . -name '*.auto_install' -type f -print | sort | xargs -n1 sh -c

I put a # in front of this (which I assume is interpreted as a comment).

Now I just need to figure out how to boot into safe mode...

Shoot...I can't find how to get into safe mode.  Nor do I know how to shut down unraid without a web console.  The main problem I have with searching for unraid info is that I find info that is years old.  Many times, it no longer works with the new version.  For instance, I've tried "powerdown" several times at the console (meaning keyboard/screen physically connected to the unraid server), and this has never worked.  I've always had to hard reboot.

Are there resources that tell me for my version (6.2.4 or even 6.x) how to shutdown using the console or how to get into safe mode?

Thank you.

A quick push of the power button on the server should start the powerdown procedure.

You boot to the safe mode by choosing the 'Safe Mode' option which appears on the monitor screen as the server is booting.  You will see this screen just after the BIOS flash screen.

IF you can log in on the console or via ssh (or Telenet), you can get the diagnostics file by typing     diagnostics     at the command line prompt.  The file will be saved in the logs folders/directory on your flash drive.

OP is already aware of this.

Hi All,

Sorry for my delay in responding -- with two kids, I barely get time at all to work on a project like this.

I had no idea you could shut down the system simply by momentarily pressing the start button.  That worked!

I booted into safe mode, and the web interface worked.  I then used the web interface to reboot the system into normal mode...and the web interface still works!  Yeah!

Thank you for the help.
