When doing a drive upgrade

Featured Replies

I got the unformatted issue the other day when doing a drive upgrade.

I did a full parity check to make sure everything was in order, shutdown the server and swapped the data drive out for a larger one.

Powered up the server and everything was ok at this point.

Saw the drive changed with the pressing start will start data rebuild and expand the storage.

Pressing start at this point then showed all drives as unformatted.

I stopped the server and started it again and this time everything was ok and the data rebuilt without issue.

I have seen the unformatted message under other conditions but can't remember what they were, this one is fresh in my mind.

I'm using the supermicro motherboard you use in your own servers with a supermicro pcie card. 4 drives on motherboard ports and 8 drives on the supermicro card.
