As you can see from the screenshot, SMART status icons are appearing in the Heat alarm row space for unassigned drives.

Update: When a drive is added to the array and is in preclearing state, the temperature data is available, making it unrelated to the unassigned state, but related to the missing temperature date, which itself could be related to the unassigned state.
