September 10, 20178 yr Greetings all I recently got a low disk warning, so decided to purchase a new hard drive. The new one is a 8TB WD Red so I decided to make that my parity drive. I followed the instructions and replaced the drive. After a day or so, when the parity was rebuilt and the array showed healthy, I shut it down and added the old parity drive. I tried preclearing it but had no luck. I kept on getting device is busy, so I just assigned it in a slot, and spun up the array. The disk was going to be erased which is perfectly fine with me. However after the clearing/erasing, I see a report that the disk is unmountable. My diagnostic report is attached. The disk in question is: WDC_WD60EFRX-68MYMN1_WD-WX41D948Y5YF - 6 TB (sdi) I tried removing the drive but the array complains that there is a disk missing so I abandoned that idea. Any help is more than appreciated Thanks titanium-diagnostics-20170909-2059.zip
September 10, 20178 yr Community Expert If the disk was added as a new disk then the fact it shows as unmountable is expected behaviour (I think). The Clearing process probably does not include a format at the end. As this is a new disk I you should be offered the option to format it, so first check that it is the new disk that is being mentioned against the format option, and as long as that is the case press the format option (which should only take a few minutes).
September 10, 20178 yr Author Well what do you know. I never noticed the format button there Thank you for the pointer. It is working perfectly fine now. Thanks again!
