September 13, 20178 yr I've been fighting intermittent errors that come up as a result of parity checks for a few months. I keep thinking I've figured it out, but it comes back up. The weirdest part about it is that it's always exactly 5 errors. Twice now, I thought I figured out the problem and was able to get back to a complete parity check with no errors only to have the 5 errors come back around. The last time this happened I ran a correcting check, then checked again and found 0 errors. Does this sound familiar to anyone? Any ideas on how to troubleshoot? I've been trying to use the Dynamix File Integrity plugin to track/find the errors when this happens, but the plugin has never reported any errors.
September 13, 20178 yr Community Expert It's the SAS2LP, it only happens after a reboot, disable INT13 on the controller bios to see if it helps. Edited September 13, 20178 yr by johnnie.black

September 13, 20178 yr Author Thanks for the info guys. I read through post and it sounds like exactly the same issue. I've had enough with chasing this, so I just ordered an LSI SAS9201-8i card. Found one for $40 on eBay. Hopefully this will put it to bed for good.
September 14, 20178 yr If it was from China/Hong Kong let us know how it works out. I buy used server pulls because some sellers on eBay from China have been passing off counterfeit cards - or so I've heard. But they can't ALL be counterfeit and it may actually be a small percentage. So if your seller is from China and is selling multiple GOOD cards it would be good for other buyers to know that. Another user reported checking with LSI and said they confirmed it was a counterfeit card they got so that may be the way to check. I've never had a problem with my LSI user server pulls so I've never bothered to check myself. Edited September 14, 20178 yr by BobPhoenix
September 22, 20178 yr I too, keep having 5 errors occur after a parity check. I have an AOC-SAS2LP-MV8 card. I pulled the card and hooked all my drives to the motherboard and another cheapo SATA3 card. I still get 5 Errors after the parity check. SMART reports show no errors, and the only thing that I can find an actual "error" in any log, is the parity check display. Snippets from /boot/config/parity-checks.log Before the Supermicro Card was removed: 2017 Sep 21 12:53:39|29122|103.0 MB/s|0|5 After the Supermicro card was removed: 2017 Sep 22 06:13:25|29061|103.3MB/s|0|5 Shooga, what are some of the other options you troubleshot prior to replacing your card?

September 23, 20178 yr Author The LSI SAS9201-8i is working great for me. Corrected the errors and have been all good since. Fingers crossed that this issue is gone forever. @BobPhoenix This card came from Florida and seems genuine. Thanks for the help guys.
September 23, 20178 yr Great! Someday if my disposable income goes up again I'm going to try one of the ones from China and see if it is genuine and report back.
