Info on adding disks / changing parity drive

Featured Replies

Hi guys

I'm adding two news hdd to my unraid. I'm adding 2 x 2to WD20EADS

currently:

  Parity: 1 to (/sda)

  Cache: 500go (/sdb)

  Disk1: 500go (/sdc)

  Disk2: 500go (/sdd)

/sde and /sdf are the new drives, being precleared right now (not bad, running between 95 and 105 mb/s)

Once they are cleared and all good, I know I have to change the parity. I want to physically swap /sda and /sde. The best way would be what?

Screenshot of drive assignement.

Stop array.

Power off.

Do the swap.

Power on array.

Assing all the drives in the correct position.

Start array?

Thank you for your input.

I'm going to assume that  to = TB, and go = GB.

I'm guessing you mean you want to replace your 1TB parity drive with a 2TB drive.  And you will be adding the other 2TB drive as a data drive.

You probably want to repurpose your 1TB parity drive as a data drive.

1. Only move or change one drive at a time.  <--- remember that.

There are directions for this I will post a link. http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=6126.0

Doh, sorry about that. to and go are in french.

Also the parity drive must be as large or larger than the largest data drive which in your case will now be 2TB
