Dockers unresponsive when big files moved to cache.

Featured Replies

I currently have a 500GB Samsung 850 Evo as my cache drive that I also store all my appdata.

Inside appdata I also store my Plex metadata, around 150GB I believe, and all of my docker images and configs.

Whenever I transfer more than lets say 40GB at a time Plex goes offline and other dockers seem to become unresponsive.

I've attached a Net Data image to this post to show you what happens when a large amount of files are being moved, purple iowait skyrockets.

I've searched the forum but not seen a solution, only saw one post and it had no solution so I'll ask this here, how do I correct this?

Possible solution?

Perhaps if I made Cache only for cache, no appdata, no plex metadata etc this wouldn't happen? I have other SSDs so is there an optimal setup that I can achieve to stop this from happening?

I have 4 SSD's currently connected to my unraid

  • 500GB Samsung - Currently Cache
  • 120GB Kingston - In Array but only used for transcoding plex streams
  • 250GB Samsung - Sitting in Unassigned drives doing nothing
  • 650GB Crucial - Sitting in Unassigned drives doing nothing
