Can I rename my shares without losing data?

Featured Replies

I've set up multiple shares on my server that made sense at the time.  After many years of using unRAID I've found that the names for the shares I set up don't really match the content of the folders anymore so I'd like to rename them.  Can I simply go into the shares page and select each share and then rename it?  If not I assume my only other option would be to create a new share and simply move the data from the old share folder to the new one and then delete the old share.

You can change share names without losing data, however just give it a test. Create a share. Put data in it. Rename it. What did you find?

Use the GUI to rename shares and all will be preserved. Data is not lost and settings are transferred to the new name.
